RAIS (RFID Analytics and Integration Services) Overview
ROI from RFID deployments is still elusive. RFID Middlewares collect RFID reads from sensors spread across the enterprise networks. This data is too granular and needs analytics and abstraction before it leads to truly relevant and actionable information. RFID data needs to be assimilated at enterprise level and converted to actionable business intelligence so that it complements the existing enterprise information systems without affecting them. Ability to take instant business actions without routing them to the systems is required. There is a need to move abstraction further . from reader to tag to events, have application development oblivious to the intricacies of physical layout of the RFID hardware and have component based architecture for integration to the host systems.
RAIS Solution:
RAIS ManagerTM makes RFID solutions powerful enough to bring real-time visibility and true automation to the RFID enabled enterprise system as a whole.
RAIS and EPC Global Reference Architecture
In the suggested EPC Global Network layers, RAIS ServerTM implements EPCIS capturing application and makes the EPCIS repository smart by doing better Analytics and attaching business context with the RFID data. RAIS ServerTM also implements EPCIS Query Interface and focuses on achieving value creation by getting the right information to the right person, system or device at the right time. Customers can get scalable solution with reduced cost of development, deployment and maintenance by having RAIS layer and make RFID solutions powerful enough to bring real-time visibility and true automation to the RFID enabled enterprise system as a whole.

Solution capabilities:
- Extracts the most relevant information
RAIS ManagerTM sieves out the most relevant information from terabytes of data generated by RFID sensors placed at different locations within the enterprise. RAIS analyzes information from different RFID networks, collates it and sends it to relevant enterprise information system or systems. In order to give real time visibility to them, RFID data is aggregated and transformed into meaningful actionable information. RAIS ManagerTM does event pattern analysis so that information can be presented in the way enterprise information system would like to see and specific functions of the system can be invoked.
- Extends real time visibility to Enterprise Information systems
The purpose of using RFID technology is to extend real time visibility to enterprise information systems by giving them an intelligent RFID feed. RAIS ManagerTM routes the occurrence of an event of "concern" to the specific function of the application so that it can respond appropriately with minimal modification in the application itself. It sends alerts or notifications to Enterprise Information systems when a meaningful event occurs and not for every RFID read that happens. It provides CEP (Complex Event Processing) engine that does correlation or pattern matching using simple Rules definition language (RDL).
- Excellent EAI capabilities
RAIS ManagerTM simplifies the integration process to a great extent by using the combination of event analytics and connector-based framework (such as J2EE application server). It detects relevant event patterns and calls the right function of Enterprise Information Systems via JMS, SOAP, HTTP(S) and custom adapters.
- Service Oriented Architecture
SOA provides crisper interfaces to ALE and Enterprise information Systems. RAIS ManagerTM enriches the quality of data collected via sensors and transforms it into business actions in real time. Service Oriented Architecture helps RFID ServerTM to easily plug-in RFID middleware or RFID routers on one end and the Enterprise Information Systems and RFID Applications on the other end. RAIS layer provided by with SOA enables RFID Server. to receive its input from one or more RFID middleware or routers, or from another RAIS layer. Similarly it sends business actions to another RAIS layer or to one or more Enterprise Information Systems simultaneously. This architecture helps in reducing integration costs, increasing reusability and in leveraging upon existing investments on Enterprise Information Systems.
